A poem celebrating the beauty of Nature in this fourth year leap year

Welcome February - A Poem by Sue Cartwright, Spiral Leaf

Welcome February, in your fourth year leap year;

We know that you promise at least one week fair;

When early bees appear and fog means frost in May;

Together we make the best of all you bring today.

Welcome February, or Februa in olden times;

Thank you for purifying the air, the soil, the land;

As frogs leap, rooks caw and woodpeckers thrum;

Pure white snowdrops gleam in angelic throngs.

Welcome February, leading us into Spring;

Bless us with the natural joyous treats you bring;

With longer, warmer days and tiny buds on twigs;

Nature prepares to waken, in a spiralling whirligig.
