Earth's Stone by Sue Cartwright
Living beings that embody memory and deep connections to the Earth
Smoothe as marble, silken, cool;
Sinuous veins curved in a lines, metallic grooves;
Marks in time, as tectonic plates move;
Traces locked in strata, history running through.
Hard as granite, wild weather worn;
Quartz crystal flecks glistening in the Sun;
Risen from the depths of Earth, to tower above;
Land stretching out from mountains, rocky hills and tors.
Cold as slate, thin, foliated, sharp edged;
Made from mudstone, volcanic ash, clay;
Flat, straight, fine grained, split in layers;
Raindrops dripping down from grey roof tiles.
Strong as a rock, mega metamorphic stock;
Molton minerals, plasma, dissolved gas;
Volcano rivers run red, life lost in their path;
Slowing down, cooling, future furtile ground.
Stone carved, engraved, polished, ground;
Stone touched, felt, held, admired;
Stone igeneous, sedimentary, metamorphic, hard;
Chrystalline energy, spiritual synergy, healing power,
Sue Cartwright
