Welcome January
A poem celebrating the beauty of Nature in the first month of the year
Welcome January, harbinger of a brand new year;
When the archway of Janus, God of Doors, stands near;
As we picture our visions and see our way clear;
To realise the future dreams we hold so dear.
Welcome January, fine and fickle friend;
With your frost and cold deep cleaning the Earth;
Chilling our bones, filling lungs with icy air;
We see your natural exquisite beauty everywhere.
Welcome January, rising mists in the Sun;
As nights become shorter, we keep ourselves warm;
Feeding the birds, walking far as we step out at noon;
Gazing at the stars by the light of the Wolf Moon.
