Birds of Prey
A poem about the powerful architypal energy of birds of prey
Golden Eagle, magnificent lone sentry of the sky;
Sea Eagle of Zeus in Jupiter, victorious, divine;
A single White Tailed Eagle on a rock, a symbol, a sign;
A warning from the Gaelic Eagle with the sunlit eye.
Stealthy wings, swift, elegant, distinct, compelling;
Broad strokes, dynamic speeds, driving momentum;
Rising high to glide on air, climbing in a continuum;
Razor-like eyes, swooping down, talons out, decending.
Falcons of the genus Falco, of the Sun God, Ra,
Long, pointed wings for agility, rapidity, thrust, drag;
Harbingers of vision, spiritual connection, universal power;
Revered by the Indigenous, spirit guides delivering prayer.
Red Kites, Ospreys, Buzzards, Sparrowhawks, Kestrels;
Goshawks, Tawny Owls, Barn Owls, Little Owls, Harriers;
Sharp sighted, soaring high, breaking all barriers,
Teaching us freedom, strength, intuition and inner calm.
