Welcome July (Almanac 2026)
Dates and seasonal traditions to bring you closer to Nature in July
WELCOME JULY
The month of July is a beautiful month full of warmth, light and sunshine where Nature is at it's most abundant rich with every shade of green and bright colour with canopies of leaves filtering dappled shade in the sunlight. We all love this time of year as we naturally respond to the beauty of Nature in its full glory.
Taking in Nature's greenery and brightly coloured flowers is proven to make us feel more relaxed and calm, which in turn, raises our frequency and boosts our mood. Remembering to create some mindful moments to treat your senses to the scents and subtleties of Mother Nature's gifts and to admire the beauty that surrounds you, is a very healthy endavour and you won't run out of worthy subjects. When we do this everyday, our mind, body, spirit, soul and whole being have the chance to slow down and connect which can only be good for us.
Making sure we get plently of sunlight through the Summer months is imperative to our overall health and helps our bodies to stock up on its stores of Vitamin D which are depleted during the Winter months. Be very careful with sun creamsas they often have a high chemical content to block out the Sun effectively. This also serves to block the skin from receiving one of Mother Nature's most powerful healing energies. I prefer to cover up a little (thin white cotton works a treat), pop on a sunhat and sit in the shade to take in as much sunshine as possible without burning.
Above all, July is the best time to enjoy Nature in all her glory accompanied by the soft cooing of the Wood Pigeons and twittering of birds as they 'to and fro' on their daily mission to raise and feed their young broods. Mother Earth thrums with the drone of butterflies, bees, grasshoppers and hoverflies as billions of insects live out their brief lives during the warmest and most productive of all Nature's seasons.

July's flower - Water Lily and Delphinium
Water Lilies are one of the longest cherished flowers across the centuries symbolising purity, beauty, longevity and enlightenment. In ancient Egypt, this beautiful jewel of a flower was often referred to as 'the lotus', symbolising rebirth and creation. Depicted in art as a symbol of and used in jewellery to represent the cycle of life, spiritual rebirth and peace. Water Lily motifs were often worn to enhance divine connection and promote eternal life.
Delphiniums are also known as 'larkspur' due to its petals, which resemble a lark's claw. Their tall vibrant flowers symbolise an open heart, deep emotional bonds and new beginnings. The name, Delphinium, comes from the Greek word 'delphis' meaning 'dolphin' due to the shape of the flower buds. During the Middle Ages, they were believed to have magical properties and were worn or used in potions for
protection against negative energies.
July's birthstone - Ruby
The blood red or rosy pink of a Ruby - and every shade of red inbetween - is the stone of the heart. Its powerful energy facilitates the ability to give and receive unconditional love. It promotes a passion for life and instils a renewed energy of vigour and vitality. At the heaight of Summer, Ruby's promote sexuality and intimacy in a loving and generous way, and never in a self-destructive way.
Not only does this beautiful stone stimulate the heart chakra, it also balances the deepest of emotions, heals hidden wounds, soothes disappointment and alchemises negative energy. The Ruby encourages harmony and realistic expectations while providing the energy to bring about desired change.

July's Quote
Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under trees on a Summer's day, listening to the murmur of the water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is by no means a waste of time.
John Lubbock
