Healing With Iodine is a seminal book that calls out health problems resulting from a chronic deficiency in one of the most ancient and all encompassing nutrients (and natural treatments) essential for human health. Iodine addresses a myriad of illnesses including thyriod disorders, heart disease, cancer and cognitive impairment. It has the ability to release oxygen in the cells and it kills bacteria, as well as viruses, fungi and yeast, none of which anti-biotics can.
Healing with Iodine is another materpiece of truth that will take you back to the days when this natural and essential trace mineral and chemical element was used for treating infections, burns and wounds as a matter of course. It has in fact been used as a topical antiseptic for over 170 years with significant use beginning in the 1830s, to be replaced by over-the-counter antiseptics in the 1950s.
Author, Dr Mark Sircus Ac OMD DM (P) is trained in acupuncture and Asian medicine, and accredits foundational research to five doctors who were the first to recognise that Iodine deficiency may be responsible for the epidemic increase in cancer of the breast, which, according to David Browstein, was affecting one in seven women in America at that time.
This matched findings from National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys which identified an increasing trend of health issues cause by reduced intake of iodised [Sea] Salt along with difficiencies in magnesium, salenium and iodine, the latter being one of the most deficient minerals in human bodies today. Old school medicine
I am old enough to remember having my deepest wounds and grazes treated with neat Iodine by the nurse at school. It was administered straight into the cut which was wrapped in gauze which quickly became tarnished with a deep brownish-orange stain. I didn't mind because it smelled of damp soil and took away the pain. It was used as a rapid antiseptic for its antimicrobial properties more than for its ability to speed up the healing process.
Dr Sircus states tells us that, Iodine kills 90 percent of bacteria on the skin within 90 seconds. This is why it was used as a go-to treatment for injuries. It was used less as an anti-biotic which is unfortunate considering the harm anti-biotics cause, and when they can only kill bacteria and not viruses, yeast or mould, as Iodine can.
There are many known issues caused by the continuous use of anti-biotics, not least that they trigger yeast infections, disrupt healthy gut flora and cause other allergic reactions, when Iodine improves gut development, enhances the gut barrier function and regulates gut microflora, all of which are crucial for proper digestion, microbial balance and metabolic health.

Hormonial balance
Hormonal balance is critical for sustaining energy, balancing metabolism, enhancing mood and improving overall health.The thyroid gland is a butterfly-shaped endocrine gland in the neck that produces hormones essential for regulating metabolism, energy, growth and heart function.
These hormones require Iodine to function and their release is managed by a negative feedback loop involving the hypothalamus, pituitary gland, thyroid gland and the blood. Iodine is metabolised through a series of stages essential for human development and health. As Dr Sircus says, It is detected in every organ and tissue in the body and is absolutely necessary for a healthy thyriod, as well as healthy overaries, breatts and prostate.
It follows that Iodine-carrying thyroid hormones are essential for oxygen-based metabolism at a cellular level when red blood cell mass is increased, providing the oxygen our bodies need on a moment to moment basis. For this reason, Iodine is an effective therapy that improves the oxygen function that enhance the body's defenses against cancer. When starved of oxygen, a cancer is unable to establish a foothold in the body which means Iodine provides a safe form of chemotherapy without any side effects at all.
Iodine is utilised by every hormone receiptor in the body and is used to synthesise thyroid hormones. It revives hormonal sensitivity, improves insulin sensitivity and improves glucose metabolism.

Harmful heavy hitters
It is true that we unable to make Iodine ourselves, nor are we able to obtain anywhere near enough natural Iodine from our diet, especially since it was removed from bread and replaced with bromide in the 1980s as a synthetic dough conditioner. This bio-poison is just one of many that are helping to make us universally deficient in a life-giving trace mineral and chemical element our bodies need to function. We are being bomarded with Iodine depleting heavy metals and halogens such as bromide, chloride, chlorine and flouride, the latter being a known thyroid poison.
It's up to us to reduce our exposure to such harmful toxins which continue to be approved as safe and effective by state regulators, government departments and quangos all over the world. It starts with knowing what these harmful toxins are and where they are so that we can remove, avoid or replace them.
It means gradually removing the harmful heavy hitters from our lives and replacing them with a daily combination of pure, essential minerals needed to keep your bodies functioning correctly. Apart from a healthy, balanced diet, we need to replenish ourselves daily with the correct minerals, and if we do, the results soon become apparent.
Biological toxin watch
Harmful heavy hitters are often hidden in trace quantities and non-disclosures which means we have no idea of the harm being caused over periods of time or even a lifetime. By knowing what to watch out for, we can make healthier choices and demand better. The list of trouble-makers is, not surprisingly, numerous and widespread.
Heavy Metals - tap water, sprayed fruits, industrial chemicals, pigments, stabilizers, preservatives, plastics, electronics, batteries, makeup and personal care products.
Mercury - tap water, dental amalgam fillings, some antiseptic creams, skin-lightening creams and soaps, some vaccines.
Bromide - tap water, sprayed on fruits, vegetables, added to baked goods and bread, pharmaceutical drugs, flame retardants, water sanitisers and food additives.
Fluoride - tap water, dental products (toothpaste, mouthwash, gels, varnishes), tap water, toothpaste, pharmaceutical antifungals, statins, inhalers and various anesthetics or anti-inflammatory drugs.
Chlorine
- tap water, household disinfectants, bleach (sodium hypochlorite), toilet bowl cleaners, laundry detergents. swimming pool chemicals, water pipes, vinyl siding, flooring, cable insulation, blood bags, toys, paper products (bleached), paints, food packaging, clothing textiles, pharmaceutical intermediates, solvents, agricultural chemicals (pesticides), surgical materials, window frames, automotive parts (car interiors), electronics (computer chips).

In the minerals
I spent many years taking various different supplements which I spent time researching to make sure they were the best quality I could afford, often in different combinations, at different times and for varying lengths of time. I can honestly say that the difference I felt in myself was most likely due to the cleansing nature of my diet, rather than the supplements I tended to use.
My discoveries I have made more recently and the changes I have made from studying the books listed below, tell a different story. I realised I was giving my body nutrients it has every capability of making for itself, providing I give my body the minerals it needs to function effectively - minerals and trace elements it can't make for itself.
It started with Celtic Salt which I take a dab of every morning with a glass of filtered water containing no less than 3 drops of Lugol's 12% Iodine with potassium. I had to build up to this amount over several weeks, starting with a half a drop because I felt it. The incredible liquid swirled like brown ink in the water and smelt of clean damp earth, It immediately set off a chain of oxidating activity in my body that made me feel slightly woozy there for a moment.
Then it moved on to pure Epsom Salts in my bath water every morning for a magnesium soak, followed by a glass of Raw Coconut Milk with a teaspoon of bioavailable copper to turn iron stored in tissues into energy, I also add a tablespoon of pure MSM Sulphur to support my skin, ligaments, bones, blood, muscles joints, hair and nails.
I will talk about diet another time because it all adds up, suffice to say my energy levels have trippled and my health has never been better. When you start including Nature's life-giving esssentials into your routine, you will never look back.
