January’s Full Moon is known as the Wolf Moon because wild wolves are more likely to be heard howling during the colder months of the year to define their territory, locate pack members, reinforce social bonds and coordinate hunting.

Full Wolf Moon - being together

Wolves are family creatures and the same full Wolf Moon energy that brings packs together has the same effect of bringing us together as well. The Wolf Moon energy evokes a special emotional atmosphere where love and affection between family members and friends can flourish. It's the perfect time to come together, catch up on things and spend time with each other.

Every opportunity should be taken to be with loved ones and friends whether in person, by letter or on the phone. Taking time to share stories is a great way to spend not only the night of this beautiful Full Moon but other darker nights through the Winter months.

This Wolf Moon also provides the opportunity to focus on spiritual transformation by stimulating change deep within. Harnessing the energy of the full moon helps us focus on deep introspection where we can rest and let go of things that no longer serve us.

Drawing on the strength, intelligence and integrity of our 'inner wolf' helps us to control the direction we want to take in life despite what others might think. It helps us to hone in on and trust our instincts. This is the best time to align with our inner wisdom and build up strength for the year ahead.

Full Wolf Moon in Cancer - personal transformation

The Cancer-Capricorn polarity represents the Cancer Moon which encourages us to value our home base and our roots as earthy Capricorn persuades us to consider our sense of duty and responsibility in the wider community and for humanity as a whole.

As the Wolf Moon travels along the axis of the Cancer-Capricorn signs, we can expect a boost of energy which makes this a good time for achieving personal goals. With the Sun in Capricorn we can turn to more practical matters and settle into a steady pace under the influence of this grounding Earth sign. A common sense Wolf Moon approach will lead to success in any situation.

While Cancer may most enjoy being with home and family, Capricorn urges us to attend to our responsibilities in the outside world. Neglecting either side of the equation does not turn out well for us and so a balance should be found between the two energies - this is what the Full Wolf Moon encourages us to do.
